Nepal by Road: The Scenic Routes That Changed My Perspective

There are instances in life when a journey is more than mere travel—it’s metamorphosis. This is precisely what took place to me when I traveled to Nepal by road with New Road Tours and Travels. The hills of Pokhara and the rugged Mustang trails are both brimming with stories and surprises. Like many others, I had heard of Nepal’s beauty, but I did not truly understand what the country had to offer until I experienced it through its winding highways and bumpy trails.

Different From the Usual

Flights are something that I had done in the past. They are quick and convenient, but offer distance and a lack of connection with beauty. The road, however, is a more intimate experience—it creates closeness to nature, people, and to oneself. It was a pleasure to collaborate with New Road Travels, who took care of the itinerary, transport, and comfort. It made all the difference when I could simply look out the window and take it all in.

The Route that Changed My Perspective Entirely

The journey commenced in Kathmandu, which was the heart of culture, history, and life itself. As we departed the capital, the chaos that was Kathmandu city began transitioning into a gentle calm. The Prithvi Highway’s curves were accompanied by lush green expansive hills and the Trishuli River which dashed playful curves next to us. Stopping for tea was a delightful experience, as the stalls and their servers were always welcoming and smiling.

For me, the most captivating part of the journey was the city of Pokhara. Surrounding the city were magnificent hills and the city itself was filled with laughter, serene waters, and legends. The part of the journey that encouraged me to introspect and reflect was this very journey, starting from Pokhara and going to Jomsom.
